Season status: the Tignes circuit is closed for the 2025–26 season and reopens for winter 2026–27.

The ride here

Tignes runs MoonBike on a closed, enclosed circuit — one at Val Claret beside the snowtubing run, and a second on the Tommeuses side. Because the course is fenced and groomed, it suits riders who have never touched a snowmobile: you get the sensation of a motocross bike on snow without navigating open terrain. Evolution 2 positions it as a break in a ski day rather than a full excursion — the base sits at the Val Claret roundabout, so you can ride between lift sessions.

Who it’s for

  • Riders aged 18 and over holding a category B driving licence
  • Minimum height 1.55 m, maximum weight 100 kg
  • Five riders per slot, one rider per machine — it is not a two-up activity
  • Some experience on a bike or motorbike is advised, but the session is supervised throughout

Getting there

The meeting point is the roundabout in Tignes Val Claret. On foot it is a short walk from anywhere in Val Claret; by free shuttle, get off at les Platières. The nearest airports are Chambéry, Lyon and Geneva, all served by winter transfer coaches to Tignes. Evolution 2 also operates MoonBike from Val d’Isère, at the foot of the Tommeuses chairlift.

What to bring

Ski clothing with gloves rather than mittens, and high snow boots. Ski boots are not permitted on the machine; snowboard boots are accepted. A rental contract is signed before the session, and the activity runs under the supervision of a state-qualified instructor on a closed circuit.
